Celebrating 20 Years of Impact: 2006-2026

Twenty years ago, in 2006, Jambo Africa was born in Thanet from a simple but powerful vision: to stand alongside ethnic minority families who too often felt unseen, and to celebrate the diversity that makes our community stronger.
Our Journey
What started as grassroots work with children, teenagers, and families in Thanet has grown into the home of ethnic minority communities in our district—running cultural events, youth sessions, integration workshops, and our Community Voices outreach with Kent Police. That same compassion later carried our work to Kenya, where we now protect vulnerable girls and support recovery.
Key Milestones
- 2006: Founded in Thanet and registered as a UK charity
- 2010: Grew youth, family, and cultural work across Thanet
- 2013: Launched Community Voices outreach with Kent Police
- 2024: Secured land for the Jambo Africa Safe Village in Kenya
- 2025: Hope Springs Home fully funded
Looking Ahead
As we enter our third decade, our priority is deepening our work in Thanet—reaching more ethnic minority children and families, and reviving Community Voices so residents can meet directly with Kent Police and legal advisors. Alongside this, we are completing the Jambo Africa Safe Village in Kenya.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey. Here's to the next 20 years of impact—at home in Thanet and beyond.
