Empowering Ethnic Minority Children, Teenagers & Families Across Thanet

Our founding work and the heart of Jambo Africa. For over 20 years we have stood alongside ethnic minority children, teenagers, and families across Thanet—celebrating culture, building confidence, and helping people belong. We run cultural events, youth sessions, workshops, and community socials that turn isolation into connection.

Listening Sessions with Kent Police & Legal Advisors

A regular community forum where ethnic minority residents in Thanet sit down directly with Kent Police officers and a solicitor to raise concerns, report issues, understand their rights, and be heard. We are reviving this trusted programme to rebuild confidence between minority communities and the people who serve them.

Therapeutic African Drumming Circle

Wellbeing, Identity & Cultural Connection Through Traditional Rhythm

A participatory arts and wellbeing programme that uses traditional West African rhythms as a tool for mental wellbeing, cultural connection, and community cohesion. Children, young people, and families explore identity, manage stress, and share culture—welcoming participants from all backgrounds to learn, listen, and play together.

Jambo Africa Safe Village

Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre for Girls Escaping Gender-Based Persecution

A purpose-built 30-bed rescue and rehabilitation centre on our 2-acre site in Kajiado County (40km south of Nairobi), providing emergency shelter and long-term support for girls and young women fleeing FGM, forced/early marriage, domestic violence, and human trafficking.

What We Provide

Emergency Intake & Case Management

Medical triage, psychological first aid, safety planning within 0-3 days

Trauma-Informed Healing

Trauma-focused therapy, grief counselling, art and music therapy, mindfulness, peer support

Education & Vocational Training

Bridging literacy, secondary re-entry, digital skills, vocational tracks in hospitality, tailoring, beauty, ICT, agripreneurship

Legal Aid & Rights

Legal clinics, paralegal support, pro bono lawyers, education on bodily autonomy and gender rights

Community Engagement

Dialogues with elders, Men and Boys as Allies programme, Alternative Rites of Passage, school outreach

Hope Springs Home

Recovery Sanctuary for Young Women Battling Substance Abuse

A vital sanctuary dedicated to providing a secure and nurturing environment for vulnerable girls and young women from both the UK and Kenya who are recovering from substance abuse and addiction. Unlike general shelters, Hope Springs focuses specifically on the complex journey of recovery. Construction is now fully funded—we welcome support for ongoing maintenance and volunteers.
