Jambo Africa Safe Village
Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre for Girls Escaping Gender-Based Persecution
About This Programme
Across parts of Kenya, adolescent girls and young women face gender-based persecution including female genital mutilation and cutting, forced or early marriage, domestic and intimate-partner violence, and human trafficking. When girls flee, there are few safe, trauma-informed shelters in rural counties that can receive them immediately, protect them from further harm, and equip them with the skills and support to rebuild their lives.
Jambo Africa Safe Village will be a purpose-built rescue and rehabilitation centre providing emergency intake shelter, trauma-informed psychosocial care, legal protection, continuing education, vocational training, and dignified reintegration support.
A solar-powered borehole will supply clean water to the centre and a supervised community water point for neighbouring villages, improving health and building goodwill.
